Privacy policy

Your story belongs on your computer. StoryShape’s Mac app does not require an account, upload your manuscripts, or send automatic usage analytics to Iron Candle Interactive.

Your local projects

The app stores manuscripts, Wiki entries, planning data, imported maps and research in local project files you choose. It saves app preferences locally and can make backups to a location you select. Iron Candle Interactive does not receive those files through ordinary use of the app.

If you put a project or backup in iCloud Drive, another syncing service or a shared folder, that service or the people with access may receive it. Those choices are yours, and their privacy practices apply. Your computer’s security and backups also matter.

This website and downloads

Visiting the website or downloading the app requires an internet connection. Hosting and download providers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser, request time and requested file for delivery, security and operational logs. These website records are separate from the content of your local StoryShape projects.

The StoryShape site does not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts or a story-upload form. External destinations have their own privacy policies; follow a link only when you want to use that service.

Optional contributions

Support payments are handled on Stripe’s hosted checkout. Stripe processes the payment and information you provide there. Iron Candle Interactive may receive transaction information needed for accounting, payment support and refunds, such as your email address and payment status. We do not receive your full card number, and a contribution does not send us your manuscript.

When you contact support

If you email us, we receive your message, email address and any files you choose to attach. We use them to respond, investigate the issue and keep necessary support or business records. Please use a small sample project where possible and do not send an irreplaceable manuscript or sensitive personal information unless it is needed and you choose to share it.

We do not sell your personal information. Access to support and transaction records is limited to the people and service providers who need it for those purposes. Records are retained only as needed to provide support, operate the project and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations.

Questions and requests

Contact support@ironcandleinteractive.com about privacy, access, correction or deletion of information you have sent us. Applicable law may require us to retain some transaction or business records. We cannot retrieve or delete local files on your computer; you control those files.

We will update this page when the product or website’s data practices change. The date above identifies the current version.
